New Horror Flick – Black as Night

BLACK AS NIGHT

A resourceful teenage girl leaves childhood behind when she battles a group of deadly vampires in Black as Night, an action-horror hybrid with a strong social conscience and a biting sense of humor. Fifteen years after Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans, a new threat leaves its mark on the Big Easy in the form of puncture wounds on the throats of the city’s vulnerable displaced population. When her drug-addicted mom becomes the latest victim of the undead, 15-year old Shawna (Asjha Cooper) vows to even the score. Along with three trusted friends, Shawna hatches a bold plan to infiltrate the vampire’s mansion in the historic French Quarter, destroy their leader, and turn his fanged disciples back to their human form. But killing monsters is no easy task, and soon Shawna and her crew find themselves caught in a centuries-old conflict between warring vampire factions, each fighting to claim New Orleans as their permanent home.

Welcome to the Blumhouse

Welcome to the Blumhouse is an anthology of unique and unsettling thrillers showcasing diverse casts led by emerging filmmakers, including several female directors. Produced by Blumhouse — maker of provocative films and television such as Get Out, Whiplash, “Sharp Objects” and The Gift — and available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video worldwide, the first four films in the series will be released in October 2020, with four more titles set to arrive in 2021.

“Amazon and Blumhouse were aligned in wanting to make original stories from diverse perspectives,” says Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum. “It’s been a priority for both companies to work with women and underrepresented filmmakers and give a platform to new voices. One of the ways we’ve been able to make great movies and TV shows is to tap into pools of talent that haven’t been drawn on over the years.”

Welcome to the Blumhouse focuses on thrillers, suspense and psychological dramas — genres beloved by audiences but rarely offered in theaters. The films explore relatable themes about cultural differences, societal pressures and personal anxieties, and feature emerging stars alongside established actors in surprising new roles. While each film stands on its own, they all share a through-line of family and love as either a redemptive or a destructive force.

The result is a series of unforgettable psychological thrillers that tap into our deepest fears and are guaranteed to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Pink Opaque

A uniquely LA story of love, family, and the hardships of life in Hollywood, Pink Opaque entered on enigmatic film student “Travis Wolfe,” portrayed by Elijah Boothe (best known from Luke Cage), who struggles to complete his thesis documentary while navigating a dangerous romance with up and coming fashion designer, “Kristen Lee,” portrayed by talented newcomer Ruby Park (right, PlayStation Girl), Travis must also reconnect with his estranged uncle leading to an unfamiliar look at his family history and renewed uncertainty of his future. These inherent contradictions created the friction that sparked Pink Opaque  reflecting the individuals and compelling texture that make Los Angeles a distinctive city rocketing this gem of an independent film to the apex of 2020-21 festival achievement with 1091 Pictures winning a bidding war certain to launch breakout talent.

Candyman

Oscar® winner Jordan Peele unleashes a fresh take on the blood-chilling urban legend: Candyman. Filmmaker Nia DaCosta (Little Woods, upcoming Captain Marvel 2) directs this contemporary incarnation of the cult classic.

For as long as residents can remember, the housing projects of Chicago’s Cabrini-Green neighborhood were terrorized by a word-of-mouth ghost story about a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand, easily summoned by those daring to repeat his name five times into a mirror. In present day, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were torn down, visual artist Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II; HBO’s Watchmen, Us) and his partner, gallery director Brianna Cartwright (Teyonah Parris; If Beale Street Could Talk, The Photograph), move into a luxury loft condo in Cabrini, now gentrified beyond recognition and inhabited by upwardly mobile millennials.

With Anthony’s painting career on the brink of stalling, a chance encounter with a Cabrini-Green old-timer (Colman Domingo; HBO’s Euphoria, Assassination Nation) exposes Anthony to the tragically horrific nature of the true story behind Candyman. Anxious to maintain his status in the Chicago art world, Anthony begins to explore these macabre details in his studio as fresh grist for paintings, unknowingly opening a door to a complex past that unravels his own sanity and unleashes a terrifying wave of violence that puts him on a collision course with destiny.

Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Colman Domingo

Directed By Nia DaCosta Produced By Ian Cooper, Win Rosenfeld, Jordan Peele Executive Produced By

Lucky Prescott (Isabela Merced, Dora and the Lost City of Gold) never really knew her
late mother, Milagro Navarro (Eiza González, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw), a
fearless horse-riding stunt performer from Miradero, a small town on the edge of the
wide-open frontier.
Like her mother, Lucky isn’t exactly a fan of rules and restrictions, which has caused her
Aunt Cora (Academy Award® winner Julianne Moore) no small amount of worry. Lucky
has grown up in an East Coast city under Cora’s watchful eye, but when Lucky presses
her own luck with one too many risky escapades, Cora picks up stakes and moves them
both back with Lucky’s father, Jim (Oscar® nominee Jake Gyllenhaal), in Miradero.
Lucky is decidedly unimpressed with the sleepy little town. She has a change of heart
when she meets Spirit, a wild Mustang who shares her independent streak, and
befriends two local horseback riders, Abigail Stone (Mckenna Grace, Captain Marvel) and
Pru Granger (Marsai Martin, Little). Pru’s father, stable owner Al Granger (Emmy winner
Andre Braugher, Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine), is the best friend of Lucky’s father.
When a heartless horse wrangler (Emmy nominee Walton Goggins, FX’s Justified) and
his team plan to capture Spirit and his herd and auction them off to a life of captivity and
hard labor, Lucky enlists her new friends and bravely embarks on the adventure of a
lifetime to rescue the horse who has given her freedom and a sense of purpose, and has
helped Lucky discover a connection to her mother’s legacy and to her Mexican heritage
that she never expected.
Spirit Untamed is the next chapter in DreamWorks Animation’s beloved franchise that
began with the 2002 Oscar-nominated film Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron and includes an
Emmy-winning TV series. The screenplay is by Aury Wallington (Netflix and DreamWorks
Animation Television’s Spirit Riding Free) and Kristin Hahn (Dumplin’)

Cayman Kelly The National Voice of ESPN Honored for Excellence in Voiceover Artistry

Best-selling author and radio personality Cayman Kelly has been included on this year’s Benztown list of the top 50 Imaging Voices in the U.S. and Canada.

Best-selling author and radio personality Cayman Kelly proudly announced he had been included on this year’s Benztown list of the top 50 Imaging Voices in the U.S. and Canada. Each year Benztown partners with P1 Media Group to compile the list from over 300 surveyed U.S. and Canadian broadcast groups, based on voice talent recognition, station count, station information, and overall audience reach. Kelly is a two-time recipient of the award, while also announcing he had been selected as the imaging voice for K104: Hip Hop and R&B and the new throwback station, KZCE 101.1: The Bounce

Making the Benztown list is a big honor for a variety of reasons,” said Kelly. “First of all, it’s industry acknowledgement of all the hard work that voiceover artists do – day-in and day-out – to keep radio and voiceover art alive and thriving. There’s also a deeply personal and humbling sense of satisfaction for me, appearing on this list with so many other amazing artists and performers. Each of our journeys have been uniquely different and inspiring – but we’re all a family of sorts. And I’m deeply grateful to be where I am today.”

K104, Dallas/Ft. Worth: A Leading Station for Over Four Decades

“Cayman is one of the premiere voices in media and culture today,” said Service Broadcasting Group’s Head of Content, George “Geo” Cook. “He and I have been looking for ways to collaborate for a while now. Thankfully, Cayman’s agent Robin Steinfeld at Don Buchwald & Associates, and my Head of Production Jerry Vigil made it happen. All of us at K104, DeDe in the Morning, and the SBG Content Factory are elated to have Cayman join our meta-team and add his distinctive voice and creative talent to our content.”

“Geo and I have a long history, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with him,” said Kelly. “I first walked into K104’s studios as a young man on a promo tour for a calendar that I was in, 21 years ago, long before I became a radio imaging voice. I remember thinking, I would love to work at this radio station! And here I am now, full circle. Life has a funny way of working out.”

The Voice of Cayman Kelly at KZCE, Phoenix

“Cayman Kelly is top shelf,” said radio veteran and KZCE founder, John Candelaria. “When we developed the unique sound of KZCE, we wanted to create more than a big voice growling at female listeners; we wanted someone who can actually have fun with scripts and connect with the target. Cayman is that signature voice. He can turn it up, turn it down, and his range is limitless. He actually makes my copy come alive. He is easy to work with and his turnaround is fast and always correct. I have not received one error with any of his reads. I am very meticulous when it comes to casting a new station and grateful that Cayman is more than a voice person. He is a true partner that collaborates with me to help build the brand.”

Emmy winner Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul, The Post, Nebraska) stars as Hutch
Mansell, an underestimated and overlooked dad and husband, taking life’s indignities on
the chin and never pushing back. A nobody.
When two thieves break into his suburban home one night, Hutch declines to defend
